  • Program aims to improve community spaces by rejuvenating areas of native vegetation
  • Program launch follows DHL Express’ recent extension of partnership with Surf Life Saving Australia

DHL Express, the world’s leading international express services provider, today launches a national tree planting program with support from Surf Life Saving Australia, aiming to improve public spaces for local communities along Australia’s coastline.

The program will see DHL Express organise tree planting events across Australia, supported by Surf Life Saving clubs and in conjunction with organisations such as local councils and conservation groups.

More than 1,000 trees were planted at the launch event held earlier today at Schuster Park in Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast – by 20 employees from DHL Express’ Gold Coast Service Centre and close to 30 volunteer surf lifesavers and nippers from local surf life saving clubs.

Gary Edstein, CEO and Senior Vice President, DHL Express Oceania said, “DHL Express is honoured to partner with Surf Life Saving Australia in this joint national tree planting program. These volunteers work tirelessly to keep the public safe along our country’s coastline and make a significant contribution to our local communities. Through this program, we will be able to help further the community work of Surf Life Saving Australia by improving the environment for the public, while also contributing to our Group’s global target to plant one million trees every year and to offset all logistics-related emissions by the year 2050.”

Graham Ford AM, President, Surf Life Saving Australia said, “Surf Life Saving Australia’s volunteers are truly committed to supporting their local community and protecting our beautiful environment, and will now be able to make a positive and direct impact on the ecosystem by supporting DHL’s tree planting program.”

The tree planting program will continue with a series of events to be held in New South Wales and South Australia by year-end.
