The educational memory skill-based game aims to raise awareness of key beach safety messages among beachgoers in the lead-up to the summer season

DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider and Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) have today launched a new digital campaign, Flip ’n’ Stay Safe, to help raise public beach safety awareness before the start of the 2020/21 beach patrol season in September.

The campaign, which runs from today until 2 August, 2020 centres on an educational memory skill-based internet game. As part of the game, players are required to review and memorise up to 10 key beach safety messages presented onscreen, then flip the cards and match the corresponding safety messages. In matching the pairs correctly, players will be invited to enter their details to participate in the game’s top ten leader board and compete for three major prizes, including:

  • First Prize – a AU$500 gift card and a SLSA branded promotional bag
  • Second Prize – a AU$250 gift card and a SLSA branded promotional bag
  • Third Prize – a AU$100 gift card and a SLSA branded promotional bag
  • Consolation Prize – One of seven SLSA branded promotional bags including: one AU$50 gift card, SLSA branded 200 ml sunscreen tube, and a ‘plant your own’ native plant seedlings pack

Between 2018 and 2019, surf lifesavers from 314 clubs across Australia performed more than 10,000 rescues and 1.5 million preventative actions to keep beachgoers safe.

“Each year, Surf Life Saving Australia works to educate the public on the importance of beach safety through education awareness campaigns and DHL Express is pleased to further support these efforts through the launch of the Flip ’n’ Stay Safe interactive game. Through understanding how we as individuals can best avoid unsafe situations at the beach, we can all help to reduce the number of situations that require the assistance of patrol members,” Gary Edstein, CEO and Senior Vice President at DHL Express Oceania said.

Adam Weir, CEO at Surf Life Saving Australia said, “Thanks to the support of partners like DHL Express, we are able to provide safer beaches for Australians and their families to enjoy each summer. Volunteer surf lifesavers work extremely hard to keep Australian beaches safe. DHL’s Flip ’n’ Stay Safe game is an interactive way for all Australians to learn and remember the beach safety messages. After more than 16 years, we are incredibly proud to partner with DHL on another successful campaign.”

The campaign will run from 6 July to 2 August, 2020. To play, please visit https://www.dhlsummer.com/flipnstaysafe/.
