Electronic equipment, mobile phones, accessories & component

  • A No Objection Certificate (NOC) or a type approval certificate from PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) is necessary for clearance of all communication equipment, including gateways, GPRS/Wi-Fi modems, mobile phone handsets, iPhones and tablets (commercial, noncommercial or gift).
  • On the shipper invoice, the IMEI (International Mobile Station Equipment Identity) number must be stated.
  • In Pakistan, used electronic or telecommunication equipment, as well as mechanical parts, are prohibited. If these goods arrive in Pakistan, customs will seize them, and they will not be eligible for Return to Origin (RTO).
  • Mobile phones will be subject to a levy tax as detailed below:

o   If the declared value plus duty/taxes (DV + D/T) is between PKR 1,000 and PKR 10,000, no levy tax is applicable.

o   If DV+D/T = PKR 10,001 to PKR 40,000, a PKR 1,000 levy tax is imposed.

o   If DV+D/T = PKR 10,001 to PKR 40,000, a PKR 1,000 levy tax is imposed.

o   If DV+D/T = PKR 40,000 to PKR 80,000, a PKR 3,000 levy tax is imposed.

o   If DV+D/T exceeds PKR 80,000, a PKR 5,000 levy tax is imposed.
